Group #4: Summary of Break-Out Group Session Discussion on Joy 


Joy comes from within and it is a reflection of inner peace. Unlike happiness, joy is independent of any circumstances. It radiates from within as love for family, friends and all humanity.

Joy comes from constantly pursuing a deeper relationship with God. When faced with life challenges and bereavement, the joy in the joy Lord becomes the unexplained strength that brings consolation. Joy is thus maintained by surrendering all and trusting God. Like Jesus Christ, those who mourn are blessed through their faith, believing in eternal life and accepting the cross of the grieving process in total submission to God. Although it is very difficult, the encouragement is to seek joy and comfort through prayer, reading scriptures, embracing special devotions like praying the rosary, and litany on humility.

Christ’s joy  can be seen in the awareness of the father’s love and in the keeping of His Commandments.  All his actions, thoughts, emotions and purpose were in perfect harmony with the will of God. It should be regarded as a sacred, secret or holy place (holy of holies). And also an inner sanctuary. Acholonu ​Faith is bailing out a friend. “But there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.” – Proverbs 18:24. For our Lord Jesus Christ, “bailing out a friend” means nothing but dying for you and me on the cross.  Christ died upon the cross of Calvary to save us from all our sins and guilts. What a great faith that is? It is beyond our imagination. In fact, he ran the risk of giving everything he had, including his life to save his friends, who might not appreciate it. What lesson can we his creatures learn from this unimaginable sacrifice? Can we bailout our friends in time of difficulties without grumbling or expecting reward or pay back?
